Last run of the year...Thanks 2010

No better way to end 2010 than with a nice run…the temp was great, it was just getting dark and its Friday!!

As I was running I thought about 2010 and my accomplishments this year…I know I could have become much stronger but what I have achieved I guess I am pretty happy…I finally made it to my 21k this year and came to terms that I was worth improving myself as a result of my hard work…sometimes I felt like i was banging my head against the wall…but no longer….topped off the year with a bang!

This year my mileage was 838 k’s and 130 runs..Not the best but based on depleted mileage due to itband injury and 6 weeks off due to surgery…I can’t complain…I hope in 2011 to run 1000 k and bike just over 900k….I will strive to do more, but I didn’t want to set myself up and then fall…we’ll see…Oh and getting up the mountain on my bike in just one try would be awesome! Adding up the mileage on my runners...looks like 400 miles...a hole on the inside...need a new pair very soon!

So many things to look forward to for 2011…I will be ordering my bike and garmin in the near future….and the training begins….Sorry to say, I can’t wait until Spring.

Happy 2011!!! Write it down, make it happen!

Ahh Yoga

Thought today I should be running seeing it's my birthday, would have been a nice way to celebrate, but I ran yesterday soooo…..yoga it is! Tonight one hour of yoga…1/2 hour of standing poses, 1/2 hour of hip openers… two areas that i need help…strength in the legs and flexibility in the hips….sure felt it…hesitated when it came to 1/2 boat pose, but I was able to do it without any problems…

I love the things in life that make me feel unbelievably great..running, biking and yoga….amazing!

Yoga... feeling calm, refreshed, at peace.. and so much more….as Rodney Yee would say ”Namaste...Thank You"

Running Against The Wind

Another little increase on the pavement…felt amazing!

The roads in town today were slick for running…with my music to my ears I could still hear the crunch of the snow under my feet…A beautiful day for a run, the sun reflecting off the water, nothing like running outside and absorbing all the beautiful things that we take for granted so often…another reason why I run…to just get out there and appreciate things that we don’t take the time to enjoy because we are always so busy.

As I was running up front street, I was running against the wind…The song sung by Bob Seger came to mind….Running Against The Wind…I was living to run and running to live….I’m older now and still running against the wind.

Running has definitely become a big part of me, it’s who I am…Feels awesome to get out there and just run!

Enjoy your day

Running The Belt

I was going to run outside today but the weather turned bad and the visibility was not very good, so I thought I better use some wisdom and run inside….

Running on the belt is not my most favorite thing to do…stuck inside in a hot room…but it’s better than sitting on the couch…I really needed to run off some of the extra food I have been consuming….I’ve started my training plan again and today it said run…so I must run.

I decide to run 10k…I know it probably wasn’t the wisest thing to do pushing that far…but I feel that running on the treadmill is much easier physically on me, so I went for it..however i do find it monotonous…music helps.

Felt great to run for 1hour! oh Yeah!!! Next up…physio exercises.

Running off some Christmas Turkey!
Not sure what has got into me this week, but i’ve been eating things that I usually avoid like the plaque…I need to be careful because being a carb addict, I don’t take things for granted in that department for one minute…doesn’t take long and you’re right back into bad habits….So after today’s cheats, which were very enjoyable to say the least….I’m wiping my slate clean from here on in…cold turkey as one would say.

-2 when I headed out the door…thinking do I really want to go out in the cold? Pushing myself out the door, I knew I would feel better. Also feeling a bit guilty in one sense of running on Christmas day, but the children were happy playing with their new gifts and others were napping….I needed to get out and run off some calories. Bit of a slow run…32 minutes for 5k…but my Ipod has left me, and I am just starting back…so all in all I can’t complain…Actually it was a great way to celebrate Christmas..like embracing a great friend, the pavement….

So I’m off to do some physio, and cook some of my own goodies so I can enjoy guilt free.

Beautiful day!! Merry Christmas

Cold but refreshing run

Christmas Eve is tomorrow…how did it sneak up on me?? It’s right there on the Calender Dec 25! It will come ready or not!

Very busy, but a needed run was on the to do list…Tonight’s run was cold, it was 1 degrees but felt colder due to the wind…..wind at my back until I got to the point and then, nice… right in the face! It sure did feel nice to run, so refreshing.… The christmas lights looked beautiful and the town was quiet during this night run….Did a little increase of 5.5. I need to really start being more dedicated on my physio exercises and more yoga. My Ipod went dead again, battery has given up the ghost…just not keeping a change any longer… This will make run #5 since I hit the road again! Feels great to be back at it

Until next time

Another beautiful day...couldn't help but get out and enjoy the weather..Went for another 5k run, feeling myself getting stronger..I finish the 5k climbing a hill, and each time I find i am climbing it easier, looks like my endurance is coming back slow but sure. Once I can rock that 5k, I will be increasing, which I hope is very soon, seeing that I want to run a 10k April 17.

Happy Easter Everyone!

hyped

It turned out to be a beautiful day, the weather is starting to turn around. Today I joined a fitness challenge @ work...so I guess it gave me a little extra push. Decided to go out for a run..I ran a 5k, rather fast for me, i think because I was listening to some great trance music and really enjoying the run, feeling a bit hyped!!!!.. I have missed it so much, just one week off and I thought i was going to go crazy...My endurance is down :( thinking I need to do some hill training as long as my leg will let me. After my run, came home, cooked supper and jumped into the shower. Took the children to their activities, and while they were there, I went to Zumba class for 1 hour....wow it is fun and a great work out...When I went to pick up the children, they were not going to be ready for another 1/2 hour, so I decided to go for a walk, came home and had shower #2! ...Man what a day..I love to exercise and I must say, it gives me so much energy.

Tomorrow is going to be a great day for weather, maybe I might be able to sneak a bike ride in, after I do loads and loads of laundry!!

Happy Easter!

Wow what a fantastic day!! When you have had a hard week or day, exercise and laughter sure it the best thing to make you feel great. First time I ran in a week, and I had a chance to try out my new itband strap. I ran a good 5k without any pain...I felt so good after that run...If I was alone and knew no one would be watching me...I think I would have done a cartwheel...It felt soooo great!!! best run in a long time...I sure hope this strap is going to work. Looking at all my mileage tonight, I sure can see why my leg has been a problem, inconsistent mileage, increasing to fast..not running for 9 days and then run 10k etc etc...just not the proper thing to do...I will be glad when I have a plan...things are looking up!

Came home cooked supper, lessons with the children and then tucked them into bed. Called a great friend to see if she was up to doing yoga at her house...headed into town for a fantastic time. I am convinced that if we did yoga in a public class, we would be kicked out...we laughed the entire time I was there...What pose are we suppose to be doing?? Man did we just do yoga??? It was great...Laughter is fantastic medicine when you have had a crazy week....So Running, laughter and attempted yoga....can't call it a better day!!!

All those things we do to make us feel good is what we live for!!!! Enjoy!/p>

1 hour of yoga with Rodney Yee

Well I did power 90 strength training, and ab ripper on Saturday, when i woke up on Sunday I was hardly sore. Thought, I’m going to have to buy some stronger resistance bands. However, by the time I went to bed i was starting to feel it..and today I can feel the effects of a great workout! I like to feel something… it lets me know that I have worked my body…

Tonight I did yoga with Rodney Yee’s dvd…Conditioning For Athletes. It is my favorite dvd. I did yoga for an hour and it really felt great. By the time I was finished, I felt so refreshed..I should be doing it more often. Not only do I need it for flexibility but also for my mindset.

Tomorrow is group run, and it looks like ran. Pouring here today. Last week it also rained during the group run and I was soaked… will probably venture out..Once I commit to something…hate to miss it… raining or not! My itband strap came today and I am also very interested in seeing how it will preform during a run…I hope it works… I really need to be running and i want to increase my mileage…I am craving a 10k so bad…I love a long run.

Use it or lose it!!! Happy Healthy Life!!!

Finally Off The Couch

I haven’t ran in 4 days, and it is driving me nuts! giving my leg some needed rest. Still waiting for my itband strap to arrive in the mail, should be here tomorrow. I plan to run a 10k on April 18, not much time to train…I sure hope taking a week off does the trick.

Decided to do some strength training tonight. Wow Tony Horton’s power 90 workout is great…this man is in awesome shape! Utube it! I completed the power 90 sculpt circuit, which works the legs, arms, back etc…using free weights or bands, I used the bands. Push ups just about killed me! Lots of lunges and tricep work. My arms are going to be sore tomorrow. Completed the 100 ab ripper work out, awesome! finished with clams on each side for my glutes that the physio gave me for strength training…

I’ve been pretty much out of commission for the last 3 days and sure needed some exercise to make me feel better and energized… Unavoidable stress sucks the energy out of me and couldn’t get motivated, and then without exercise I feel like a slug..its a vicious circle…I am so thankful I was able to get off the couch tonight and get myself back on track!

one of those days!

I promised myself that I would take a week off from running. I don't know how I am going to make it. Always said that running is a great stress relief. After today not only am I craving the road, I need it! I so miss my running already and its only day 2. I was going to go to Zumba tonight, I am so drained I couldn't go. Even a walk was out of the question, i need to run :(

today when i woke up, had some pain in my glutes on the right side..i applied arnica cream and took some advil before I went to work...the pain subsided...it is feeling alot better tonight.

Tomorrow is Friday, not sure if i can get a bike ride in, maybe some yoga.

Decided on "I'm not finished yet", because that is pretty much how I feel. I won't be finished until I have completed those deep down desires in life..and then probably just go onto another one! Been a bit of a struggle these days, but it's okay...I will make it through it and will come out stronger..just need to give myself some time, and take is slow...hard hard hard to do!! After yesterday's run my leg was pretty sore, ached during the night and felt it when I drove the standard today...feels kinda like a bruise, sore to touch. I am going to take the week off from running...try some strength training and do my yoga, and of course bike..I have zumba tomorrow night. I find it hard to take time off, because I crave a good run, but I have to decide.. take the week off, or month!! I pick week.. I want to run a 10k in April..won't be able to do it if I keep pushing myself. Funny same time last year I had this very same problem...and I remember wondering if I would be able to run the same 10K then...I did it...and I plan to do it again this year...I told a friend today at work, I wonder if I am made to run a 1/2, she said...depends on how bad you want it....Great words of wisdom!!! I don't like what ifs!!

Life is great...Live if full!
